Lorraine takes the role of president after serving as Executive Director, Vice President, and Youth Education Committee Chair. She has been teaching FLCCT financial literacy classes since 2007 and is strongly believes that financial education is key to equality. Lorraine has degrees in Math and Computer Science and worked in computing for decades. She holds a Project Management Professional certification and is a silver level toastmaster. When not promoting financial literacy, she maintains real estate, dances and creates fiber art.

Michael Cavazos joined the FLCCT board in July 2014. Michael is retired after spending over 30 years working in the high tech industry, most recently with Advanced Micro Devices. Over the course of his career, Michael held several positions as a software developer and manager, with specific expertise in software program management. He received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Michael has worked with several non-profits as a volunteer, some of which include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and CASA of Travis County. e-mail Mike: MCavazos@flcct.org


Michael Helfereich joined the FLCCT Board in 2017. Michael is a business operations professional with a keen focus on end results. After 20+ years in management and business & technology consulting, Michael left corporate life to focus full time on real estate. He currently serves in the role of VP and COO for a small real estate investment company located in Austin, TX and a licensed real estate agent in the Austin area focused on residential sales. His success has allowed him to give back. He is passionate about the future of his community, and volunteers for a local NPO promoting health & human services for people living with HIV & AIDS as well as serving as a volunteer instructor for FLCCT. Michael is married and lives in Austin, TX.

Matthew Vitlin joined the FLCCT Board in the spring of 2017 to lead the volunteer training program. His work as a financial adviser at Reliant Wealth Management gives him an appreciation for people’s needs to understand personal money management. Matthew brings a good background in business strategy, accounting, and not-for-profit organizations to FLCCT. Executive Director – Lourdes G. Zuniga

Lourdes is a journalist and holds a BS degree in Communications. She worked in several newspapers and PR firms in Lima, Peru. Because of her work in politics and Social Issues she has always been involved in philanthropic causes. After moving to the USA, she has published as a freelance writer for the newspaper Ahora Si! and also worked as a Hotel Management Consultant. Lourdes started to volunteer at a young age and in Austin she has served as a Board Member for local non profits and organizations including Seton Hospitals where she was Editor in Chief of Brackenridge newsletter and People’s Community Clinic where she served as Vice Chair. She is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and when not writing she spends her free time traveling and dining out.
